Decadent & delicious, this is a super simple recipe for truffles that you can make with your children. Why not make a few batches and take them as gifts at Christmas. The recipe makes about 40 truffles (depending upon how much you taste whilst making them!) and they store well in the fridge for a few days. If you want to keep them for longer put them in a sealed plastic container in the freezer.

They also taste really nice frozen – sometimes I just can’t wait the 15 minutes for them to defrost!

This recipe is from Isabel López Soto from La Murta and is included in the village cook book. You might like to try adding different liqueurs – mint or orange would be good!

Truffles – Trufas – Spanish Recipe in Spanish & English

Ingredients

  • 1 pastilla chocolate puro (Valor) 300g
  • 1 vaso grande leche condensada entera
  • 1 chorito de ron
  • Fideos de chocolate

  • English:
  • 300g premium dark chocolate
  • 1 large glass of condensed milk
  • 1 measure of rum
  • Chocolate sprinkles to decorate

Instructions

  1. Se funde el chocolate al baño maría y fuego lento.
  2. Después se le echa la leche condensada y se bate para que se mezcle todo bien.
  3. Finalmente se le añade el ron y se vuelve a batir.
  4. Se deja enfriar y luego se hacen las bolitas y luego se rebozan con fideos de chocolate.
  5. Se sirven colocados en capsulitas de papel.

  6. English:
  7. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of gently boiling water.
  8. Add the condensed milk and mix well.
  9. Add the rum and mix again.
  10. Leave the mixture to cool.
  11. Make small ball shapes and dip into the chocolate sprinkles.
  12. Serve in small truffle cases.
