Everyone gets joyful as fall ends and winter season arrives. Winter, as we all know, is all about snow, heating-up by the fireplace, drinking hot chocolates, wearing thick clothes, and more. But for other people like the pool owners, this is the time for cover up!
Above-ground swimming pool is way difficult to maintain than the usual in-ground pool. Taking care of an above-ground pool is easy but laborious. For the coming cold season, using pool winter cover is recommended for above-ground pool type. This cover protects the pool from debris and other accidental immersions.
If you own an above-ground pool owner or planning to own, I hope these 9 facets of information can be a big help:
One: Make sure the pool water is not leaking. The cover lies upon and is being supported by the water.
Two: Follow the instructions printed in your pool manufacturer's guide. The information will help to understand further the steps in using the pool winter cover.
Three: Confer with your swimming pool dealer regarding the suited winterizing chemicals to be applied on your above-ground pool. Remember to have your pool chlorinated until freeze-up to avoid the growth of algae.
Four: Winter covers are built to last and is made of sturdy material. However, you must cushion the sharp edges, abrasive decking, rough corners of the coping with soft covering like old towels, Styrofoam scraps, or any fabric. This padding technique will protect your pool cover to tear up.
Five: Lower the water level in your above-ground pool below the skimmer's mouth. This would prevent your skimmer from freezing.
Six: Entwine cable through the grommets all way around your cover. Insert one end of the cable through the hole at the end of the winch. Also, insert the other end of the cable to the opposite side of the winch. Pull the cable's both ends and start turning winch to secure the cover. If material gathers, walk around your pool and position neatly.
Seven: It is normal for a few amount of water to leak onto the cover's surface. This event can be seen when the cover is already installed.
Eight: For those who have deck pools, position the cover over the pool with the black side down. You may either knot the cable wire through the grommet and between the deck poles. Run short pieces of wire from the grommet.
Nine: It must be remembered to tie down your pool winter cover properly. And also, put an air pillow inside of your above ground pool.
